Why Trump was spared a penalty in hush-money sentencing

US President-elect Donald Trump has been sentenced to “unconditional release” in his criminal slush trial. This means that he will not face any punishment in the form of prison, probation or fine.

He will take office as the first President of the United States to be convicted of a felony.
