After delaying several hours, there were scurdished scenes here in Ramallah, where about 60 Palestinian prisoners of Israeli detention were released in the arms of their loved ones.
Among those who released freedom and taste for the first time in 22 years, Hussein Nassar, who was 47 years old, who was arrested in 2003 for his participation in the second Palestinian uprising, or the uprising.
To meet his daughters, Hedaya, who is 22 years old and Ragad, who is 21 years old. Both were wearing the amazing traditional red and black dresses from Naply, their hometown.
The minor daughter told me earlier that it was impossible to describe a long life without her father.
“This is the first time I will touch it. I will embrace it. I cannot express my feelings.”
She said, “I was almost vibrating the Israelis by raising her father’s interview.
Of the 110 Palestinian prisoners who were released at this stage of what is still a fragile ceasefire, there were many women and children – the youngest of 15 years old.
Some of them were accused of relatively simple crimes, while others have not been officially convicted or accused.
But 21 prisoners were convicted of the most dangerous crimes, including killing, did not allow Israel to return home to the Palestinian territories and were exiled to Egypt or neighboring countries.
One of the prominent figures who was not sent to exile, despite his condemnation of his involvement in the death of many Israelis, was Zakaria Zabidi.
The former commander of the Al -Aqsa martyrs brigades was one of the detainees who were carried by the supporters who were shown through the streets near the Ramallah Civil Center.
It was a scene, such as the exhibition of the former Hamas force in Gaza, which will disturb many Israelis and undoubtedly regenerate calls by some right -wing politicians of the war against Hamas in Gaza to resume it after this first stage of six weeks of the end of the ceasefire.
For the ruler of Ramallah and Al -Berier, Dr. Leila Abu Ghanem, this return to the homeland was for many former prisoners to celebrate.
But it had mixed feelings with the intensification of Israeli military operations in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, and the ceasefire in Gaza is still under pressure.
“All the Palestinians are happy to release the prisoners, but we are sad about what is happening in the provinces at this particular moment. Mothers today, despite their happiness to release their children, are also saddened by these mothers who lost their homes and children.”
Today it was one of the very few days, while it was covering this bound conflict, to the extent that I saw a lot of happy faces between both Palestinians and Israelis.
It was a terrible and destructive war that shattered many lives.
Governor Ghanem accused the Israeli government of not taking care of peace. “But we do not lose hope,” she said. “If we lost hope, the Palestinians would have ended 75 years ago.”
The next batch of prisoners ’versions against Israeli hostages should occur on Saturday.
