Austrian police search for ‘shaman fraudster’ suspect

Police in Austria issued a European arrest warrant for women who believe that it constitutes a shaman to defraud the victims of large sums of money.

Police said they had discovered money, jewelry and gold for more than 10 million euros (8.3 million pounds) at the women’s home in Moding, near Vienna.

They said that the suspect is a 44 -year -old Austrian citizen called Mariana M, who obtained the name Amila.

Her 29 -year -old son is being held in the town of Wiener Neustadt.

Police say they believe that Mariana had defrauded people in Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

Police said that Mariana M. told one of the victims that “a nearby curse had been cursed and that she had expected her death. In order to break this alleged curse, the accused demanded 730,000 euros to” the rituals of disinfection. “

They said after the victim handed the money to the accused in several installments, the suspect stopped. Another woman informed the victim on the phone that the “shaman” fell into a severe coma as a result of the rituals.

“In a world in which many people are looking for answers to the basic questions about life, the beneficiaries themselves have created themselves who possess supernatural powers for nature,” said Franz Bob.

“They are taking advantage of the confidence of their victims, who suffer from emotional or financial distress and are looking for help and support,” he added.

The police appealed to any other victims to contact the Criminal Investigation Office in the lower Austrian state.
