Israeli police say one killed in train station knife attack

An elderly man was killed and four other people were wounded by the police, a terrorist attack in the northern Israeli city of Heva.

This happened at a bus station and bus bus in Hamivate, and the attacker was shot dead at the scene by security guards, police said.

Ambulance service in Magin David Adom said the victim, who died, was about 70 years old. She added that the 15 -year -old boy, a man and a woman in the thirties were in serious condition, while a 70 -year -old woman was moderate.

The police said the attacker was an Israeli man from the town of Shafram recently returned from abroad. Such an attack by a member of the Israeli community Druze is rare.

Druze is an ethnic and religious group, whose faith is a branch of Shiite Islam. About 150,000 lives in Israel and occupied Golan Heights, which includes about 1.5 % of the population.

One of the witnesses told Israel News website that the attacker traveled to Haifa on a bus from Shafram, which is about 10 kilometers (6 miles) east of Haifa.

The witness said that he started stabbing the passengers when the bus reached the station, then went out and attacked others on the committee.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: “My wife and Sarah send our deepest condolences to the family of the man who was killed in the shocking terrorist attack in Haifa,” said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“We will continue to fight everywhere against those who seek to kill and defeat them.”

There was no immediate claim from any armed groups, but Hamas described the attack as “heroic” and “a natural response” to what Israeli crimes against the Palestinians called.

It comes amid an internal archeology between Hamas and Israel to move forward with a six -week ceasefire deal in Gaza.

Israel prevented aid from entering Gaza after Hamas refused what the Netanyahu office said was an American proposal to extend the first stage, which ended on Saturday evening.

Hamas accused Israel of reaching the deal and said that the second stage should be advanced as agreed.
