New Zealand has launched its most prominent envoy to the United Kingdom due to statements that were interrogated by US President Donald Trump’s understanding of its history.
At an event in London on Tuesday, High Commissioner Phil Gowe compared efforts to end the war between Russia and Ukraine with the Munich Convention in 1938, which allowed Adolf Hitler to include part of Czechoslovakia.
Mr. Jouf remembers how Sir Winston Churchill criticized the agreement, then said about the American leader: “President Trump has regained the Churchill statue to the Oval Office. But do you think he really understands history?”
New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters said his comments were “very disappointing” and made his position “unbeatable.”
His comments came after Trump stopped military aid to Kyiv after A. Hot exchange with Ukrainian President Folodimir Zelinski In the oval office last week.
Trump died with Churchill, who, while separating from the British government, spoke against the Munich agreement because he saw that he surrendered to the threats of Nazi Germany.

Peters said the views of Mr. Jouf did not represent the opinions of the New Zealand government.
“When you are in this situation, you represent the government and policies today, you are unable to think about thinking, you are the face of New Zealand,” Peters reported the local media.
“This is not the way you act as a front face of a country, diplomatic,” he said, adding that he would have taken the same course of work regardless of the country that is talking about.
Mr. Goff is a veteran politician who has been a high commissioner since January 2023. before that, he served for two periods as the mayor of Auckland, the largest city in New Zealand, and the leader of the Labor Party was from 2008 to 2011. He had also held many ministerial portfolios, including justice, foreign affairs and defense.
Peters, the Deputy Prime Minister, also told the correspondents that he had made a decision to dismiss Phil Guff without consulting Prime Minister Christopher Luxon first.
When it was noted that Luxon was the leader of New Zealand, Peters replied: “I know he is the Prime Minister, I made him the Prime Minister.”
The 79-year-old, who was previously working with Mr. Jouf in the government, is leading the first political party in New Zealand-who joined the National Luxon Party and the Labor Party in 2023 to form the current right-right alliance government.
For his part, Luxon said that Peters’ decision to dismiss Mr. Jouf without consulting him first is “completely suitable.”
Former Prime Minister Helen Clark was among those who criticized Mr. Jouf’s dismissal, saying that he was supported by “a very high excuse.”
She wrote in a post on X.
Under the Munich Agreement in 1938, Hitler took control of the Czechoslovakia Sodinland in Czechoslovakia. The deal failed to prevent Nazi Germany from progressing deeper in Europe, and the Second World War began when Poland invaded in 1939.
