Alaska authorities search for missing small plane

The American authorities are looking for a small plane carrying 10 people reported in Alaska.

The US Coast Guard told the Alaska region that the craft of Cesena Caravan was 12 miles (19 km) abroad on a trip from Unalakleet to Nome when she “lost her position.”

The two cities are about 146 miles from each other via Norton Sound, an entrance to the Perling Sea on the western coast of Alaska.

State officials said in a statement that the search and rescue crews “are working to reach the latest known coordinates.”

They said they were notified by a “late” plane run by the prominent airline at 16:00 local time on Thursday (01:00 GMT).

The update from the Ministry of Public Safety in Alaska said that the ten people who consist of nine passengers and a pilot. There was no information available immediately about who was on board.

BBC Berg called the air to comment.

The volunteer firefighting department in the Landing City city said that the pilot told air traffic monitors that “he was planning to enter a contract pattern while waiting for the runway to be cleared.”
