Aurora Borealis as seen from the International Space Station

These pictures of the international space station (ISS) show vegetables and red in Aurora Borealis dance in the sky over Canada.

The natural phenomenon occurs when the Earth’s magnetic field is disrupted by solar wind, which is a stream of charged molecules issued by the sun.

In these shots from January 2025, the city’s lamps are visible on the ground below as ISS events revolve around the Canadian scene. Then the space station rises to the sunrise, 259 miles (417 km) over the Atlantic Ocean.
