Avalanche in French Alps kills Brazilian-Portuguese skier

Local officials confirmed that a man died in a “very large” ice collapse in the French Alps on Tuesday.

The rescuers said that the Brazilian Brazilian Nationality was found in the Les Grands Monttes resort at the foot of Mont Blanc.

Avalanche, which happened about 16:35 local time (15:35 GMT), was 1 km (0.6 mi) in length and 400 meters wide.

It was first reported that the victim was British, but the Public Prosecutor and the Shamounix Hi Hi Jabal Jabal Marmerei (PGHM) told the BBC on Wednesday that this was incorrect.

The collapse fell into a part of the Monttes of Les Grands where the 55 -year -old was skiing.

It was monitored by a patrol of skiing on its way to close the area to the public, due to very bad conditions.

The rescue teams attended the scene, where the death was announced.

PGHM BBC told the man’s family to be informed. He added that she had not received reports on any other victims.
