Huge Athens crowds demand justice for 2023 train crash

The riot police clashed with the demonstrators in Athens, after thousands of people gathered to demand justice to the victims of the worst railway disaster in Greece, which killed 57 people.

In 2023, passenger service with 350 people collided with a shipping train near the Greek village of Tempi, causing the front vehicles to fire.

“I do not have oxygen” is the main logo of the protests – indicating that many of them were killed because of the collision itself, but because of the fire caused by the chemicals banned on the shipping train.

The accident prompted a wide condemnation of the railway safety standards in Greece, as well as the state’s treatment of subsequent investigation.

The video shows that the police are launching tear gas, as the demonstrators threw sticks and others protesting the officers.
