Romanian far-right presidential hopeful barred from poll rerun

The right -wing populist Calin Georgisco was prevented from participating in the presidential elections in May by the country’s central electoral office.

In December, the Roman Constitutional Court canceled the first round of the vote – which first stated – after intelligence information revealed that Russia had participated in the 800 Tiktok novels that support it.

The office rejected its candidacy for what he called “procedural cases”, without providing further details. Georgsco described the decision as a “direct blow” of democracy.

He now has 24 hours of Sunday’s ruling to submit an official appeal, which must be issued within 72 hours.
